La traducción del lenguaje tabú en el doblaje al español latinoamericano de la película Bottoms (2023)

Abstract

Esta investigación analiza el tratamiento del lenguaje tabú en un contexto de humor queer en el doblaje al español latinoamericano de Bottoms (2023) en contraste con las normas de aceptabilidad que rigen la industria en Latinoamérica. El estudio adopta un análisis contrastivo de la versión original y el doblaje al español latinoamericano en cuanto a las estrategias de traducción observables del lenguaje tabú. Se establece un sistema de referencia para la clasificación de este lenguaje y se considera la función discursiva del mismo para comprender su intención y lo que representa. Además, se integran marcos teóricos sobre humor audiovisual debido al género de la película. Asimismo, el estudio incorpora la categoría de humor queer como eje debido a los marcadores identitarios que implica el uso del lenguaje tabú y la representación de historias de la queer girlhood a través de la sátira. El doblaje del producto audiovisual Bottoms (2023) se convierte en un espacio con temáticas queer donde lo tabú interactúa con convenciones lingüísticas y dinámicas socioculturales a la vez que transfiere el efecto humorístico y carácter incómodo de la película.

This investigation analyzes the treatment of taboo language in a queer humor context in the dubbing into Latin American Spanish for Bottoms (2023) in contrast with the acceptability norms that are followed by the industry in Latin America. The study takes a contrastive analysis between the original version and the Latin American Spanish dub in regards to the translation strategies that can be observed for taboo language. We establish a frame of reference for categorizing this language and we consider its discursive function to understand its intention and what it represents. Furthermore, we incorporate theoretical frameworks for audiovisual humor due to the movie’s genre. In addition, the study incorporates the category of queer humor as a main axis due to the identity markers that come with the use of taboo language and the representation of queer girlhood stories through satire. The dubbing for Bottoms (2023) becomes a space with queer themes where taboo interacts with linguistic conventions and sociocultural dynamics while transferring the humoristic and uncomfortable aspects of the movie.
