Community Resilience among the Inhabitants of Jana, a Community belonging to the District of Chavín de Huántar, AncashAbstract
In recent years, around 500 medium- and large-scale natural disasters have been recorded. These catastrophic events, caused by the force of nature, had negative consequences on the populations that suffered their effects. Therefore, the present research aims to explore community resilience among the inhabitants of Jana, a community belonging to the district of Chavín de Huántar, Huari Province, in Ancash. For this purpose, a qualitative study with a reflexive thematic analysis design was carried out. Five individuals in leadership positions, aged between 46 and 63, participated and were selected through convenience sampling. The findings were organized into six themes that demonstrate community resilience: cohesive social structure, governmental honesty, emotional dimensions, coping strategies, and coping obstacles. It is concluded that social cohesion among the inhabitants was a fundamental pillar that allowed them to adopt a resilient attitude and jointly face the consequences of the disaster.
