Psychometric properties of the Psychological Abuse Scale applied to Couples in university students in Metropolitan LimaAbstract
The aim of this study was to determine the psychometric properties of the Psychological Abuse Scale Applied to Partners (EAPA-P). The research design was instrumental. The sample consisted of 300 university students from Metropolitan Lima (219 women and 81 men) between the ages of 18 and 24 (M = 20.9; SD = 1.48) who were in a romantic relationship lasting seven months or more (M = 22.9; SD = 17.4). The type of sampling was non-probabilistic for convenience. The scales used were the Psychological Abuse Scale Applied to Partners (EAPA-P) by Rodríguez-Carballeira et al. (2014) and the Peruvian version of the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) by Villarreal-Zegarra et al. (2019). The results of the confirmatory factor analysis showed that the EAPA-P maintains a bifactorial structure (λ > .30). The internal consistency reliability of the EAPA-P was confirmed (ω = .93 for direct PA strategies; ω = .92 for indirect PA strategies). Evidence of validity based on the relationship with another variable was also found: psychological abuse in partner relationships was positively and significantly correlated with depression (rs = .36, p < .01 for direct PA strategies; rs = .34, p < .01 for indirect PA strategies). Thus, the EAPA-P provides evidence of validity and reliability.
