La reconstrucción de la identidad de Darren en el doblaje al español neutro y al español peninsular del idiolecto en la serie Heartbreak High (2022)

Abstract

La presente investigación tiene como objetivo identificar cómo se reconstruye la identidad idiolectal del personaje Darren en el doblaje del inglés australiano al español neutro y peninsular de la serie Heartbreak High (2022) de Netflix. Este personaje gay, afrodescendiente y de género no binario representa una parte de la diversidad de la serie de drama adolescente. La forma de comunicarse en particular de este personaje, el idiolecto, se constituye por el uso del lenguaje queer y soez. Esto permite que el personaje sea destacable en la serie, ya que pertenece a una comunidad discursiva en particular y esto lo diferencia de otros personajes de la serie. Esta investigación parte del supuesto de que el lenguaje queer y soez en la traducción audiovisual son marcas idiolectales que permiten la construcción de personajes ficticios y contribuyen a su distinción. Asimismo, esta identidad idiolectal podría modificarse o no en el doblaje al español neutro o peninsular, dependiendo del público meta. Estas modificaciones implican la explicitación, suavización, omisión de las marcas idiolectales del personaje. De la misma forma, esta investigación abarcará tres categorías principales que se vinculan con el campo, objeto y fenómeno de estudio: traducción audiovisual, variación lingüística e identidad, y las variaciones geográficas del español neutro y peninsular.

This research aims to identify how the idiolectal identity of the character Darren is reconstructed in the dubbing from English to Neutral and Peninsular Spanish in the Netflix series Heartbreak High (2022). This gay, Afro-descendant, and non-binary character represents part of the diversity in this teen drama series. This character has a unique way of communicating, their idiolect, which is characterized by using queer and offensive language. This makes the character remarkable in the series, as they belong to a specific discursive community that differentiates them from other characters. This research assumes that queer and offensive language in audiovisual translation perform as idiolectal markers that allow the construction of fictional characters and contribute to their uniqueness. Furthermore, the idiolectal identity may or may not be changed in the dubbing into Neutral or Peninsular Spanish, depending on the target audience. These changes may involve the explicitness, mitigation, or omission of the character's idiolectal markers. Likewise, this research will address three main categories linked to the field, object, and phenomenon of study: audiovisual translation, linguistic variation and identity, and the geographical variations of Neutral and Peninsular Spanish.
