The present study analyzed the relationship between perceived social support and resilience in Peruvian physicians during the hospital crisis caused by COVID-19. The sample consisted of 137 physicians (58.85% male), aged between 24 and 65 years (M = 31.26, SD = 7.04), selected through a non-probabilistic snowball sampling method. A non-experimental, correlational, and quantitative research design was employed. To measure the variables, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and the Resilience Scale (RE), both adapted to the Peruvian context, were used. The results indicated significant and strong positive correlations between overall perceived social support and resilience (r = 0.50, p < .001). The dimension with the strongest relationship with resilience was family support (r = 0.51, p < .001). No significant differences were found in perceived social support or resilience based on sex or age (p > .05). However, significant differences were found in perceived social support from the “others” dimension concerning marital status (p < .05). These findings highlight the importance of social support, particularly family support, in physicians’ ability to cope with high-pressure situations, such as those experienced during the pandemic.
