Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo examinar la asociación entre la inteligencia emocional y el duelo por COVID-19 en adultos de Lima Metropolitana. El diseño de la investigación fue correlacional y comparativo. Participaron 219 adultos siendo mayor la proporción de mujeres (n= 143) a diferencia de los varones (n= 87), con edades entre los 19 a 70 años (M= 33.4; DE= 12.4). Se utilizó el Pandemic Grief Scale (PGS) para la medición del duelo por COVID-19 y el Brief Emotional Intelligence Inventory for Senior Citizens (EQ-i-M20) para valorar la inteligencia emocional. En el análisis de correlación se encontraron relaciones negativas entre el duelo por Covid-19 con las dimensiones de intrapersonal (-.322), interpersonal (-.231) y adaptabilidad (-.210). Por otra parte, se encontraron diferencias según el sexo, siendo las mujeres quienes presentaron mayor manejo de estrés (p= .009, d= .359) a diferencia de los varones. Se sostiene que el duelo por Covid-19 tiene relaciones negativas con algunos procesos asociados a la inteligencia emocional. Se discuten las implicancias y se plantean recomendaciones.This research aimed to examine the association between emotional intelligence and grief due to COVID-19 in adults in Metropolitan Lima. The Pandemic Grief Scale (PGS) was used to measure grief due to COVID-19 and the Brief Emotional Intelligence Inventory for Senior Citizens (EQ-i-M20) to assess emotional intelligence. In the correlation analysis, negative associations were found between Grief due to Covid-19 and the dimensions of intrapersonal (-.322), interpersonal (-.231) and adaptability (-.210). Differences were found according to sex, with women presenting greater stress management and men having a higher mood. The implications are discussed and recommendations are made for the assessment of these variables.
