Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB), an infectious disease, saw a worsening in its control during the pandemic, leading to an increase in mortality. However, there was a decrease in the loss-to-follow-up rate for anti-tuberculosis treatment, but the behavior of irregular treatment remains unknown. Objective: To evaluate whether the pandemic years were associated with an increase in the proportion of irregular treatment in people affected by tuberculosis (PAT) in the population of Tablada de Lurín from 2018 to 2021. Methodology: A retrospective cohort observational study was conducted using data from 300 PAT treated in three healthcare centers. Information was obtained from the Tuberculosis Management Information System (SIGTB) and the physical treatment cards of each facility. Results: A total of 300 patients were evaluated, of whom 31% had irregular treatment. The bivariate analysis showed that the period of enrollment in the tuberculosis program was not associated with irregular treatment (p=0.3). However, associations were found with sex (p=0.04), educational level (p=0.0001), and initial condition (p=0.01). In the adjusted analysis, not having higher education was the only factor associated with irregular treatment (RR 3.8, p = 0.02). Conclusions: The percentage of irregular treatment among PAT in Tablada de Lurín is frequent and did not increase during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to previous years.
