Methods: Retrospective observational study with 163 patients. Sociodemographic, bacteriological and clinical variables were analyzed. Non-probabilistic sampling was used. Results: The majority were men (62.58%) with pulmonary tuberculosis (85.89%) and on first-line regimen (85.89%). Treatment success was observed in 92.02%. Tobacco consumption (p = 0.028) is a risk factor for treatment failure. Discussion: Tobacco consumption was identified as a risk factor associated with unsuccessful results in tuberculosis treatment. These findings highlight the need to address smoking in tuberculosis management strategies. Conclusions: The COVID-19 pandemic has affected tuberculosis treatment strategies. The identification of tobacco consumption as a risk factor offers opportunities to optimize the clinical course and well-being of affected patients. These findings inform effective interventions to address tuberculosis in the current and future context.
