El impacto del fenómeno migratorio internacional sobre el ingreso promedio del trabajo: caso peruano

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar evidencia empírica del impacto del fenómeno migratorio internacional sobre el nivel de ingresos en el Perú durante el periodo 2001 -2023. Se emplea un modelo se diferencias en diferencias para evaluar el cambio que hubo sobre los ingresos después del periodo 2015, año en el que se dio el Decreto Legislativo Nº 1236, el cual buscó modernizar la normativa de migraciones en el país, estableciendo un marco más actualizado para regular la entrada, permanencia y salida de extranjeros. De acuerdo con los hallazgos derivados de la regresión de diferencias en diferencias empleada en la presente investigación, se confirma la hipótesis: el aumento de la población migrante en el contexto del Decreto Legislativo disminuyó los ingresos promedios mensuales.

The purpose of this paper is to present empirical evidence of the impact of the international migration phenomenon on income levels in Peru during the period 2001 -2023. A difference-in-differences model is used to evaluate the change in income after 2015, the year in which Legislative Decree N° 1236 was adopted, which sought to modernize the country's migration regulations, establishing a more updated framework to regulate the entry, stay and exit of foreigners. According to the findings derived from the difference-in-differences regression used in this research, the hypothesis is confirmed: the increase in the migrant population in the context of the Legislative Decree decreased the average monthly income.
