During the pandemic, family functioning and social skills in adolescents were affected. This study aimed to determine the relationship between family functioning and social skills in secondary school adolescents from an educational institution in Chorrillos. A quantitative, cross-sectional, non-experimental, and correlational study was conducted with 184 female participants aged 12 to 17 years (M = 14.1 years, SD = 1.2). The family APGAR (Gabriel Smilkstein, 1978) and the Goldstein Social Skills Checklist (Arnold Goldstein, 1978) were used. The findings revealed a statistically significant and positive relationship between the variables, with a medium magnitude in communication skills (rho = 0.49, p < 0.001), stress management skills (rho = 0.32, p < 0.001), planning skills (rho = 0.34, p < 0.001), and alternatives to violence skills (rho = 0.34, p < 0.001). In contrast, anxiety management, pro-amical skills, prosocial skills, and those related to emotions showed lower correlations with family functioning. Additionally, differences were found in family functioning and communication skills based on daily cohabitation, with higher scores among those who lived with both parents. It is concluded that family functioning is associated with developing social skills, particularly communication skills.
