Experiencia de adaptabilidad al puesto de trabajo en adultos con TEA: Una revisión sistemática

Abstract

La adaptación laboral en personas con trastorno del espectro autista (TEA) es un tema que ha cobrado notoriedad a nivel social y académico. Por ello, resulta importante la realización de programas que permitan el desarrollo de las capacidades más afectadas en esta población, así como reforzar aquellas que se encuentran potenciadas por dicha condición. La presente revisión sistemática tuvo como objetivo explorar y describir la experiencia de adaptabilidad al puesto de trabajo en personas adultas con TEA. Para la búsqueda de los artículos se siguieron las indicaciones de Preferred Reporting Ítems for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) y se usaron tres bases de datos académicas: Scopus, PubMed y Web Of Science. Las palabras clave utilizadas para la búsqueda fueron “Autism”, “Workplace”, “Work adaptation”, y términos vinculados con la adaptación laboral. La búsqueda se realizó en el mes de septiembre del 2024 y se incluyeron artículos en español e inglés. En cuanto a los resultados, se identificaron un total de 35 artículos, pero para el análisis de los resultados se incluyeron cuatro artículos. Se concluye que la adaptabilidad de personas con TEA está condicionada por factores como el tipo de apoyo recibido, la adecuación del ambiente y la comprensión de sus compañeros de trabajo. Resulta necesario la implementación de programas que fomenten la inclusión y la sensibilización en el lugar de trabajo, a modo de facilitar una mejor experiencia laboral y el desarrollo de las funciones necesarias.

Work adaptation in people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a topic that has gained notoriety at a social and academic level. Therefore, it’s important to carry out programs that allow the development of the capacities most affected in this population, as well as reinforce those that are enhanced by this condition. The objective of this systematic review was to explore and describe the experience of adaptability to the workplace in adults with ASD. To search for the articles, the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) instructions were followed and three academic databases were used: Scopus, PubMed and Web Of Science. The keywords used for the search were “Autism”, “Workplace”, “Work adaptation”, and terms linked to work adaptation. The search was carried out in the month of September 2024 and articles in Spanish and English were included. Regarding the results, a total of 35 articles were identified, but for the analysis of the results, four articles were included. It’s concluded that the adaptability of people with ASD is conditioned by factors such as the type of support received, the adequacy of the environment and the understanding of their co-workers. It’s necessary to implement programs that promote inclusion and awareness in the workplace, in order to facilitate a better work experience and the development of the necessary functions.
