Self-Esteem And Academic Performance In University Students: A Systematic ReviewAbstract
The necessity of knowing those psychological processes that improve academic performance continues to be a relevant topic to explore. The objective of the present study is to develop a systematic review on the association of self-esteem and academic performance in university students. The PRISMA model was followed. The databases included were Scopus and SciELO (Scientific, Electronic Library Online). A total of 6 studies were identified for the review. Regarding the results, they can be declared as initial and demonstrate the positive association between self-esteem and academic performance, however, other studies demonstrate the absence of association. It is believed necessary to continue exploring the associative dynamics between the variables. In addition, it is pertinent to know the involvement of other variables that mediate or moderate this link.
