As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, changes occurred in people's lifestyles (eating habits, sedentary lifestyle, social isolation, etc.), which had an impact on body image dissatisfaction and self-esteem. The aim of the study was to correlate body image dissatisfaction and self-esteem in Peruvian female university students in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. An associative strategy and a correlational design were used; 220 female university students from Lima and provinces, aged 18 to 25 years (M = 21.6 and SD = 1.97) participated. The Individual Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965) and the Body Image Questionnaire (Cooper et al., 1987) were applied. The results indicated a negative, moderate and statistically significant correlation between body image dissatisfaction and self-esteem (rho = -.46 and p < .001). Regarding comparisons according to variable and age range: no significant differences were found in body image (p = .065 and d = .153), nor in weight concern (p = .187 and d = .110); statistically significant differences were found in body dissatisfaction in favor of the group of women aged 18 to 21 years (p = .022 and d = .191); and in self-esteem in favor of the group of women aged 22 to 25 years (p < .001 and d = .276). Finally, it was observed that 17% of participants have extreme body dissatisfaction and 25% have low self-esteem. In conclusion, the greater the body image dissatisfaction, the lower the self-esteem of the participants.
