Purpose in life and resilience in parents of children diagnosed with ASDAbstract
Y se observó que la correlación entre la Resiliencia y Vivencia de Sentido es moderada (r = .36, p< .05).During the Covid-19 pandemic, many fathers and mothers of children with ASD were psychologically affected by confinement because their children's routines, access to therapies, and reduced or absent support from third parties were altered, which increased worry, signs of burnout, exhaustion, among others (Coughlan, 2020; Hill, 2020; Pavlopoulou et al., 2020; Cullen et al., 2020; Rogers et al., 2020). The purpose of this research was to explore the relationship between the meaning of life and resilience in parents of children diagnosed with ASD in Lima and provinces. For this, we worked with a sample of 150 parents of children diagnosed with ASD, with an age range between 18 and 60 years, 60% of them being people who lived without a partner. The instruments applied were the Meaning in Life Test (Gottfried, 2016) which includes two dimensions, and the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale (Castilla et al., 2016). The main findings were that there is a statistically significant positive moderate relationship between Resilience and Meaning Perception (r = .48, p < .05). And it has shown that the obstruction between Resilience and Experience of Meaning is moderate (r = .36, p< .05).
