Traducción comentada y localización del libro informativo/instructivo The Science of Palletizing

Abstract

Esta investigación propone realizar la traducción comentada y localización del libro técnico The Science of Palletizing (2009) al español de Perú. El objetivo principal es abordar la traducción y localización de documentos técnicos sobre embalajes de madera y paletización, un género poco estudiado en Perú y en la traductología en general. Partiendo de las preguntas específicas del trabajo, se realizará un análisis intertextual y extratextual del libro The Science of Palletizing. El análisis intertextual busca comprender la función de los signos y la intertextualidad del texto, mientras que el extratextual considera el contexto sociocultural y el público meta para una adecuada adaptación. Además, se aplicarán técnicas especializadas para resolver los problemas de traducción y garantizar la transferencia precisa del significado. Cabe destacar la importancia de la función dominante del texto fuente, que es referencial, ya que busca informar sobre los fundamentos de la paletización. Asimismo, la uniformización terminológica juega un papel crucial para estandarizar los términos relacionados con esta disciplina al español de Perú, considerando las convenciones de género, tipología y discurso. Con el fin de fortalecer la solidez conceptual y la validez del estudio, se realiza la descripción y revisión teórica relacionada a las categorías y subcategorías que están desarrolladas en el marco teórico. De la misma manera, se realiza una reflexión sobre el proceso de traducción.

This research proposes the annotated translation and localization of the technical book The Science of Palletizing (2009) into Peruvian Spanish. The main objective is to address the translation and localization of technical documents about pallets and palletizing, a rarely studied genre in Peru and translation studies over all. Based on the specific questions of the work, an intertextual and extratextual analysis of the book The Science of Palletizing will be carried out. The intertextual analysis seeks to understand the function of the signs and the intertextuality of the text. In contrast, the extratextual analysis considers the sociocultural context and the target audience for an adequate adaptation. In addition, specialized techniques will be applied to solve translation problems and ensure accurate transfer of the meaning. It is important to note the referential nature of the source text, which aims to provide information about the basics of palletizing. Likewise, in the Peruvian context, terminological standardization plays a crucial role in systematizing the terms related to this discipline, considering conventions of gender, typology, and discourse. In order to strengthen the theoretical soundness and validity of the study, I conduct a detailed description and theoretical review of the categories and subcategories developed in the theoretical framework. In the same way, a reflection on the translation process is made.
