Impulsividad y empatía en drogodependientes pertenecientes a un centro de rehabilitación en Lima

Abstract

Diversos estudios relacionan tanto impulsividad como empatía con la drogodependencia, de igual manera investigan como la afectación de dichas variables en los drogodependientes tiene un impacto en su recuperación. En la presente investigación se buscó determinar la relación entre la impulsividad y la empatía en jóvenes y adultos drogodependientes que siguen un programa de rehabilitación en un centro privado en Lima. La presente es una investigación de tipo empírica, estrategia asociativa y de diseño correlacional simple. Se seleccionó una muestra de 124 drogodependientes que siguen un programa de recuperación en el centro de rehabilitación en donde se realizó el estudio. Para medir la variable de impulsividad se utilizó la Escala de Impulsividad de Barratt (BIS-11) y para medir la variable de empatía se utilizó el Inventario de Reactividad Interpersonal (IRI), ambos adaptados a la realidad peruana. Los resultados arrojaron que existe una relación negativa y moderada entre la empatía e impulsividad. Además, la impulsividad se relaciona negativamente con las dimensiones de empatía, siendo moderada con la cognitiva y pequeña con la afectiva. Finalmente, se tiene correlaciones moderadas y negativas de empatía con las dimensiones de impulsividad motora e impulsividad no planeada.

Various studies relate impulsivity to drug dependence and empathy to drug dependence, also they investigate how the affectation of these variables in drug addicts has an impact on their recovery. In the present investigation, we sought to determine the relationship between impulsivity and empathy in young people and drug addicts who follow a rehabilitation program in a private center in Lima. This is an empirical research, associative strategy and simple correlational design, which explores the link between both variables. A sample of 138 drug addicts who follow a recovery program at the rehabilitation center where the study was conducted was selected. To measure the impulsivity variable, it was used the Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11), and the Interpersonal Reactivity Inventory (IRI) was used to measure the empathy variable. The results showed that there is a negative and low relationship between empathy and impulsivity. In addition, the dimensions of motor impulsivity and unplanned impulsivity have a negative and moderate relationship with cognitive empathy, also motor impulsivity and unplanned impulsivity have a negative and low relationship with affective empathy. Finally, the dimensions of impulsiveness have a positive and significant relationship with each other; the same situation occurs between the dimensions of empathy.
