Los eSports han experimentado un crecimiento notable en el ámbito del entretenimiento digital. Muchos de estos eventos digitales hacen uso de transmisiones en vivo para una mejor experiencia de los espectadores como la de los participantes. Dentro de estos eventos el del Campeonato Mundial de League of Legends “Worlds” es uno de los eventos gamer más emblemáticos, donde se utilizan recursos transmedia, audiovisuales, musicales y tecnológicos involucrando a miles de espectadores alrededor del mundo. Por consiguiente, el objetivo de esta investigación de esta presente investigación es comprender las narrativas transmedia utilizadas durante la transmisión de “Worlds Opening Ceremony 2023” realizado por Riot Games. Por ello, se realizó un estudio de enfoque cualitativo, de diseño de estudio de caso, el cual responde al paradigma interpretativo de investigación. La técnica de recolección fue entrevistas semiestructuradas, teniendo como categorías principales: narrativa transmedia, streaming y League of Legends. Los resultados de este estudio demuestran que, la participación de los usuarios en redes sociales generó conversaciones durante el evento y el aumento de la viralidad del evento. Los entrevistados destacan la diversidad de plataformas utilizadas en este evento, destacando redes sociales como Facebook e Instagram permitiendo alcanzar audiencias globales. Asimismo, podemos encontrar la presencia de personajes como complemento para el desarrollo narrativo de las historias desarrolladas. Se concluye que el empleo de las narrativas transmedia puede ser viable en eventos en vivo transmitidos vía streaming.eSports have experienced notable growth in the field of digital entertainment. Many of these digital events make use of live broadcasts for a better experience for viewers and participants. Within these events, the League of Legends World Championship “Worlds” is one of the most emblematic gaming events, where transmedia, audiovisual, musical and technological resources are used, involving thousands of spectators around the world. The objective is to understand transmedia storytelling used during the broadcast of “Worlds Opening Ceremony 2023” carried out by Riot Games. For this reason, a qualitative approach study was carried out, with a case study design, which responds to the interpretive research paradigm. The collection technique was semi-structured interviews, with the main categories being: transmedia narrative, streaming and League of Legends. The results of this study demonstrate that user participation in social networks generated conversations during the event and increased the virality of the event. The interviewees highlight the diversity of platforms used in this event, highlighting social networks such as Facebook and Instagram, allowing global audiences to be reached. Likewise, we can find the presence of characters as a complement to the narrative development of the stories developed. It is concluded that the use of transmedia narratives can be viable in live events transmitted via streaming.
