Introduction: The expansion of COVID-19 has shown the hard work of nurses; However, these show inadequate protection, feelings of frustration, physical and especially emotional fatigue, generating mental health problems. Objective: To analyze the relationship between self-care behaviors and emotional dysregulation in nurses from Metropolitan Lima. Method: Sample of 205 nurses (12.7% men and 87.3% women) between 21 and 60 years of age, evaluated with the Professional Self-Care Scale and the Emotional Regulation Difficulties Scale. Results: It was evident that professional self-care was positively linked to emotional inattention, being of low magnitude and ranging between .14 and .28. Likewise, physical self-care was positively linked to emotional interference and at a low magnitude of .24; while lack of control, confusion and emotional rejection did not demonstrate a significant association. Conclusion: The implementation of self-care practices in the nurses' work days increased emotional regulation difficulties; since they are always exposed to stress, worry and responsibility within the COVID-19 area. Finally, the implications of the study, conclusions and recommendations are presented.
