Pedro Castillo (PC) headed a fleeting government that surprised due to the rapid transformation of its political image. During the campaign, he presented himself as a union leader with ideas that were totally contrary to the government; However, once elected, this view of his image changed drastically. During the course of these stages, the media also showed its own perspective of the PC image. Confronting what the politician wants to show and what the media shows about him. Therefore, this research is understood as an analysis of dialogic discourse that includes both the perspective of the politician and the media to contrast them. A qualitative study is proposed based on the analysis of television interviews, since this format allows us to understand how the projected image is constructed in the interaction between the strategies of the politician and the medium. In this sense, the study focuses on the content analysis of all the interviews granted by PC to different news programs during two contexts: candidate stage and presidential period. The central result shows a political and personal transformation of PC, in addition to a reorientation of the approach that the media used to show it to the public, both during the campaign and during the presidency. The contribution lies in proposing the interview as a space in which the strategies of the politician and the medium interact, and conceiving, particularly, the projected image of PC as the articulations and tensions between personal construction, the political role and the figure media.
