Este estudio explica la aplicación de la fotografía, como herramienta terapéutica, a través del uso del smartphone, en alumnos entre 18 a 21 años de la Facultad de Comunicaciones de una universidad privada. El objetivo es demostrar que este tipo de terapia puede ayudar a visibilizar la emociones y sentimientos de los estudiantes. La fotografía terapéutica ha logrado un cambio positivo en pacientes con diversos trastornos mentales, en víctimas de violencia y en adictos a sustancias. La metodología que se empleó fue de enfoque cualitativo, se centró en el paradigma y diseño fenomenológico, ya que este permitirá explorar, describir y comprender las vivencias y pesares de los participantes. Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a 20 estudiantes de la Facultad de Comunicaciones. Posteriormente, se empleó un análisis temático para conocer sus percepciones y reconocer posibles paralelismos en las respuestas brindadas. Como resultado, se encontró que la fotografía en conjunto con el smartphone y las redes sociales funcionan como herramienta para la expresión, comunicación y liberación de los jóvenes. Permitiéndoles manifestar sus sentimientos de una manera indirecta, sin la necesidad de palabras, analizando y efectuando una autorreflexión con el fin de comprender cómo se sienten.This study explains the application of photography as a therapeutic tool, through the use of a smartphone, in students between 18 and 21 years old from the Faculty of Communications of a private university. The objective is to demonstrate that this type of therapy can help to make visible the emotions and feelings of the students. Therapeutic photography has achieved a positive change in patients with various mental disorders, victims of violence and substance addicts. The methodology used was qualitative in approach, focused on the phenomenological paradigm and design, since this will allow exploring, describing and understanding the experiences and sorrows of the participants. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 students from the School of Communications. Subsequently, a thematic analysis was used to learn about their perceptions and to recognize possible parallels in the answers given. As a result, it was found that photography in conjunction with the smartphone and social networks function as a tool for expression, communication and liberation of young people. Allowing them to express their feelings in an indirect way, without the need for words, analyzing and making a self-reflection in order to understand how they feel.
