El impacto de la migración en el nivel salarial de los trabajadores nativos del departamento receptor en el Perú entre 2018 y 2020

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar los efectos salariales que genera la migración interna a lo largo de la distribución salarial de los trabajadores del departamento receptor. Se evalúa el impacto en los percentiles 5,10,25,50,70 y 95 de la distribución salarial, considerando el ratio migratorio de cada departamento. Cabe resaltar que, los inmigrantes no son categorizados según sus habilidades, con el fin de evitar una estimación errónea, ya que generalmente los inmigrantes recientes no se emplean en trabajos acorde a sus cualificaciones, tras su llegada.

El análisis abarca los años comprendidos entre 2016-2020 y mediante mínimos cuadrados ordinarios se examina si la incidencia de la migración en los salarios de la población nativa es positiva o negativa. Los resultados concluyen que en los percentiles inferiores de la distribución salarial el efecto es negativo debido a la gran cantidad de inmigrantes, mientras que en los percentiles más altos el efecto es positivo.

The objective of this research is to analyze the salary effects generated by internal migration throughout the wage distribution of workers in the receiving department. The impact is evaluated on the 5,10,25,50,70 and 95th percentiles of the wage distribution, considering the migration ratio of each department. It should be noted that immigrants are not categorized according to their skills, in order to avoid an erroneous estimate, since recent immigrants are generally not employed in jobs according to their qualifications after their arrival.

The analysis covers the years between 2016-2020 and uses ordinary least squares to examine whether the incidence of migration on the wages of the native population is positive or negative. The results conclude in the lower percentiles of the wage distribution the effect is negative due to the substantial number of immigrants, while in the highest percentiles the effect is positive.
