​​Impacto de la maternidad adolescente en la participación laboral y el nivel de riqueza de la mujer en el futuro​

Abstract

El presente trabajo de investigación analiza los efectos de la maternidad adolescente en la participación laboral y en el nivel de riqueza futuro de la adolescente, en el contexto peruano. Para ello se consideró una muestra de mujeres madres, distinguiendo a aquellas que se embarazaron en la adolescencia y a las que se embarazaron a una edad posterior. La muestra y los datos se obtuvieron a partir de la Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud Familiar del año 2021, usando los módulos 1629, 1631, 1632 y 1635. La hipótesis propuesta es que un embarazo entre los 15 y 19 años de edad complicaría la formación de las adolescentes como capital humano debido a las responsabilidades que conlleva la parentalidad adolescente, afectando su empleabilidad, sus ingresos económicos y, por lo tanto, su nivel de riqueza en el futuro. Para comprobar la hipótesis, se empleó el Modelo Probit Bivariado y el Modelo Probit Multinomial Ordenado, además, se realizaron regresiones adicionales con variables instrumentales a fin de identificar algún problema de endogeneidad en la variable embarazo adolescente. Al concluir el estudio, se obtuvo que la relación entre un embarazo adolescente y la probabilidad de insertarse en el mercado laboral positiva, mientras que para el índice de riqueza, la relación es negativa. Por último, se ofrecen conclusiones y recomendaciones en políticas públicas en base la investigación.

This paper analyzes the effects of the adolescent motherhood on labor participation and level of wealth of the adolescent in the future, in the Peruvian context. For this, a sample of mothers was considered, distinguishing between those who became pregnant in adolescence and those who became pregnant at a later age. The sample and data were obtained from the 2021 Demographic and Family Health Survey database, using modules 1629, 1631, 1632 and 1635. The proposed hypothesis is that pregnancy between 15 and 19 years would complicate the formation of adolescents as human capital due to the responsibilities that adolescent parenthood entails, affecting their employability, economic income and, therefore, their level of wealth in the future. To test the hypothesis, the Bivariate Probit Model and the Ordered Multinomial Probit Model were used, in addition, additional regressions were made with instrumental variables in order to identify any endogeneity problem in the adolescent pregnancy variable. Concluded the study, it was found that the relationship between a teenage pregnancy and the probability of entering the labor market is positive, while for the wealth index, the relationship is negative. Finally, conclusions and public policy recommendations are offered based on the research.
