Quality of life and Emotional Regulation Difficulty in students of health at a private university in LimaAbstract
The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between quality of life and emotional regulation difficulties in health students at a private university in Lima. The sample consisted of three hundred university students aged 18 to 24 years (M = 20.72; SD = 1.87); 169 women (65.33 %) and 131 men (43.67 %). The instruments used were Peruvian adaptations of the Olson and Barnes Quality of Life Scale (ECVOB) and the Difficulty of Emotional Regulation Scale (DERS). A partial unregularized network was estimated using the ggmModSelect function. Bridge Expected Influence values were calculated to identify the central nodes and a two-tailed permutation test for the difference between the two groups (male and female). The results reveal that the nodes of quality of life and emotional regulation difficulty (FACO-EDO and FACO-VCV) are related. The central node belongs to emotional regulation difficulty and there are global differences between the comparison networks; but at the local level, there are connections in the female network that are not in the male group and vice versa. It is concluded that the importance of quality of life and its relationship with emotional regulation difficulty in medical students should be considered.
