Systematic review about the prevalence of burnout syndrome during COVID-19 in basic and higher education teachersAbstract
El presente estudio tuvo por finalidad elaborar una revisión sistemática sobre los estudios de prevalencia del síndrome de burnout en docentes durante la pandemia por COVID-19. Las bases de datos utilizadas fueron Scopus, Web of Science y la Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). Fueron seleccionados en total ocho investigaciones que cumplían con los criterios de calidad metodológica previamente establecidos. Como resultado, se encontró que la mayoría de las investigaciones fueron elaboradas con el Maslach Burnout Inventory, fue diferenciada la interpretación del síndrome de burnout, encontrando evaluación a partir de un puntaje global y según sus dimensiones. Los valores obtenidos variaron en función a la muestra y contexto de estudio, específicamente los docentes universitarios demostraron mayores niveles de síndrome de burnout a diferencia de los docentes escolares. La revisión sistemática determino que durante la pandemia de COVID-19, los docentes experimentaron síndrome de burnout. Sobre este resultado, es pertinente priorizar estrategias de prevención y/o intervención para la reducción de este síndrome.The purpose of this study was to prepare a systematic review of studies on the prevalence of burnout syndrome applied to teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The databases used were Scopus, Web of Science and the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo). A total of eigth investigations that met the previously established methodological quality criteria were selected. As a result, it found that most of the investigations elaborated with the Maslach Burnout Inventory, and the interpretation of the burnout syndrome was differentiated, finding an evaluation based on a global score and according to its dimensions. The values obtained varied depending on the sample and study context. Specifically, university teachers showed higher levels of burnout syndrome unlike school teachers. The systematic review determined that during the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers experienced burnout syndrome. Based on this result, it is pertinent to prioritize prevention and/or intervention strategies to reduce this syndrome.
