Entrepreneurial self-efficacy and locus of control in young people aged 20 to 30 years with new ventures in the context of COVID-19Abstract
This research describes the relationship between entrepreneurial self-efficacy, measured by the Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy Scale developed by De Noble, Jung and Ehrlich, and locus of control, measured by the Rotter Locus of Control Scale. It is a quantitative study of correlational design in which 204 young entrepreneurs who started their business in the months of March and August 2020, with an average age of 25 years and belonging to the first generation of business entrepreneurs in Metropolitan Lima participated. Among the main results, it was determined that entrepreneurial self-efficacy correlates negatively and significantly with locus of control. It was also observed that, when comparing entrepreneurial self-efficacy and locus of control according to the number of entrepreneurial ventures of the participants, there were no significant differences. Therefore, the variables are negatively related to each other in business entrepreneurs under an extraordinary context of COVID-19 pandemic, which determines that the higher the entrepreneurial self-efficacy, the lower the locus of control.
