Subjective experience of rural teachers of Loreto using the program Learning at home during the COVID-19 pandemicAbstract
This study aims to understand the subjective experience of rural teachers working in Loreto who had to use the Aprendo en Casa (AeC) [Learning at home] program during the COVID-19 pandemic. To do so, a qualitative phenomenological study was developed, interviewing 10 teachers working in five schools located in villages of the rural area of Loreto. Main results were that they perceived distance learning as a great challenge, and the AeC as an inadequate learning strategy. This is due to the presence of logistical, technological and professional difficulties in the Amazonian context, and errors in the quality, relevance and organization of platform content. In addition, the teacher well-being was affected, expressing discomfort to the experience of negative emotions and concerns related to their performance, and the learning and social reality of their students. These situations, however, led them to acquire new personal resources and professional skills as well as developing coping strategies and initiatives that support AeC. In conclusion, even in the midst of a pandemic context, with multidimensional limitations at the professional level, several issues at a personal level, and the need to use a deficient educational tool in their job, rural teachers in Loreto were able to give continuity to their roles and contribute to the progress of their students.
