El objetivo principal del presente estudio fue contrastar diferentes perspectivas acerca del tiempo de desarrollo de nuevos productos y su relación con los resultados de las empresas. Los objetivos específicos fueron describir los factores críticos de éxito en el desarrollo de nuevos productos; describir el rol que cumple la competencia en el desarrollo de nuevos productos; exponer perspectivas relevantes sobre el tiempo de desarrollo de nuevos productos y su relación con los resultados de las empresas, para, finalmente, contrastar y analizar las posturas. La investigación realizada tuvo un enfoque cualitativo hermenéutico, que consistió en la revisión de la literatura concerniente al tema, por medio de la cual fue hallada la preocupación de la academia por comprender las implicancias del tiempo de desarrollo de nuevos productos en los ingresos y en la participación de mercado de las empresas, entre otros resultados importantes. Fue posible concluir que existen posturas contrapuestas alrededor del problema de investigación, lo que configuró la controversia que fue materia del presente trabajo y, además, fue evidenciada la necesidad de continuar la investigación sobre el tema.The main goal of this study was to contrast different perspectives about the development time of new products and their relationship with the results of companies. The specific goals were to describe the critical success factors in the development of new products, to describe the role that competition plays in the development of new products, to present relevant perspectives on the development time of new products and their relationship with the economic results of companies, to finally contrast and analyze the positions. The research carried out had a qualitative hermeneutic approach and consisted of a review of the literature on the subject, finding the concern of the academy to understand the implications of the development time of new products on the income and market share of companies, among other important results. It is concluded that there are opposing positions around the research problem, which configures the controversy that is the subject of this work, and the need to continue research on the subject is clear.
