Aim: The main purpose of this study was to determine the association between oral health behavior and the frequency of dental service use in university students from Lima-Peru. Materials and Methods: An observational, cross-sectional and analytical study of 215 university students aged 18 years and over was carried out in the period March-May 2021. For the behavior evaluation, the version translated into Spanish of the questionnaire from Hiroshima University- Dental Behavioral Inventory (HU -DBI). Likewise, a self-report question was included for the variable frequency of dental service use. In addition, questions regarding sociodemographic variables were added. Descriptive statistics were used using absolute and relative frequencies for qualitative variables and mean, median, standard deviation and interquartile range for quantitative variables. For the bivariate analysis, T student test and ANOVA were used. For the multivariate analysis, the Poisson regression with a robust variance estimator was used as well as for the association of the variables, and crude and adjusted prevalence ratios were calculated. A confidence level of 95% was adopted and the level of significance was adjusted as p <0.05. Results: The results showed a significant association between the frequency of dental service use and oral health behavior. Regarding the frequency of dental service use, it was observed that the participants who visit the dentist once a year obtained a mean response to the Hiroshima questionnaire of 6.59 (1.82 SD). Conclusions: There is a significant association between the frequency of dental service use and oral health behavior.
