Digitalization and its influence on the competitive advantage in B2B exports of apparel companies from the Lima region to the United States in the period 2018 to 2021Abstract
Peruvian apparel companies have shown sustained growth in recent years. However, due to the pandemic, since 2020 there has been an abrupt drop in exports, due to which the use of digital tools has helped to mitigate the negative impact of those companies that adopted digitization as a competitive advantage in the B2B market and in their processes in order to make them more efficient and economical. This research, which uses a descriptive qualitative approach methodology with a grounded theory design of descriptive scope based on the collection of national and international background together with semi-structured in-depth interviews conducted with 15 experts (representatives of companies and other organizations such as; Promperu and Adex), resulted that depending on the size of the company, customer focus and type of product, digital technologies can be oriented in improving the production of the company or in improving the process of trade promotion in the international market. Finally, according to the findings obtained, it was shown that there are limitations to digitalization in the apparel sector, such as the need for physical testing of the garment, which arises due to the nature of the product and the marketing system.
