La importancia de la dimensión cultural en la traducción: un análisis de la traducción automática inglés-español de los artículos médicos informativos Easing Peer Pressure with Love and Logic y Partnering with Relatives to Promote Reunification

Abstract

En los últimos años, la posedición ha logrado tener un propio espacio en el proceso de traducción. Esto se debe a los grandes avances en la tecnología, y precisamente, al rápido crecimiento de la traducción automática (TA), la cual ahora es considerada una buena herramienta para la traducción, que ha sido capaz de agilizar el proceso de traducción. Sin embargo, la TA aún presenta ciertas ineficiencias en las versiones que genera, por lo que labor del traductor humano continúa siendo imprescindible para lograr una traducción de calidad. En este artículo se abordará los errores encontrados en la traducción automática de dos artículos, se identificará qué tipo de errores son así como qué problema constituyen esos errores según Christiane Nord. Por último, durante todo el proceso de análisis se destacará la importancia de la cultura en la traducción, un factor tan importante que los traductores automáticos, hasta el día de hoy, no han podido tomar en cuenta.

In recent years, post-editing has gained its own place in the translation process. This is due to the great advances in technology and to the rapid growth of machine translation (MT), which is now considered a good tool for translation, and which has been able to speed up the translation process. However, MT still has inefficiencies in the versions it generates, so the work of human translators continues to be essential to achieve a high-quality translation. In this article we will address the errors found in the machine translation of two articles, we will identify what type of errors they are and what problem these errors constitute according to Christiane Nord. Finally, throughout the analysis process, the importance of culture in translation will be highlighted, which is such an important factor that machine translators have not been able to consider to this day.
