Mental representations of motherhood in women with endometriosis who have not been able to have childrenAbstract
This research explores the concept of mental representations of motherhood in childless women with endometriosis. The results show that the representations about motherhood are given from their own imaginary, where the desire to be a mother is found due to the bond with the mother and the internalized social mandates. Also, the obstacle that endometriosis represents to be mothers, being a disease with a lot of physical and emotional pain. So, in their mourning process for non-maternity, they end up replacing this maternal role with other activities, and some of them retain the desire to be a mother.
