Psychometric properties of the "Short Dark Triad" Questionnaire in police officersAbstract
The objective of the research was to identify the psychometric properties of the Short Dark Triad (SD3) scale in Huancavelica police officers. Through a probabilistic convenience sample, 357 officers were selected (Women = 22.6%, Men = 77.4%), between 20 and 60 years old (M = 27; SD = 9.11). The adapted version of SD3 made by Salessi and Omar (2018) was applied in Argentina. As evidence of validity based on the internal structure, the CFA of the three-factor model was performed with acceptable results (χ2/df=2.56, CFI=.92, TLI=.90, SRMR=.043, RMSEA=.066). Reliability was evaluated using the omega coefficient by dimensions, finding values between .60 and .81. Correlation analysis between SD3 factors showed positive correlations between moderate and high. The external validity was carried out with the Big Five Inventory (BFI-15, Dominguez-Lara and Merino-Soto, 2018), the three dimensions of the SD3 showed a weak to moderate correlation with Neuroticism. Narcissism presents a positive, weak and significant correlation with Extraversion. Psychopathy presented a negative, weak, significant correlation with Responsibility. It is concluded that the SD3 presents adequate psychometric properties that support its use for investigations in the sample of police officers.
