Psychometric Properties of the Questionnaire of Spirituality in Young Adults of the City of LimaAbstract
The objective of this research was to examine the psychometric properties of the Parsian and Dunning Spirituality Questionnaire adapted to adapted to Spanish in Colombia. This questionnaire is made up of 4 subscales: self-awareness, importance of spiritual beliefs, spiritual practices, and spiritual needs. The participants were 502 young adults from the city of Lima of both sexes (58% women), whose ages ranged between 18 and 35 years (M = 24.9; SD = 5.0). The results obtained in the confirmatory factor analysis provide an adequate fit for a four-dimensional internal structure of the Spirituality Questionnaire (χ2=1265; df = 368; CFI= .901; SRMR= .0578; RMSEA: .0697). The reliability coefficients of the dimensions ranged from ω=.84 to .94, being acceptable. Satisfactory evidence of convergent validity of the Spirituality Questionnaire was obtained by correlating it with the Life Satisfaction Scale. The results of this analysis yielded positive, significant and moderate to strong correlations between both instruments (between r=.47 and .63). It is confirmed that the instrument has adequate psychometric properties to measure spirituality in young adults in the city of Lima.
