Parenthood from the perspective of women with husbands who have a long working dayResumen
The objective of the research was to describe paternity from the perspective of women with husbands with a long working day. A qualitative study of phenomenological design was carried out, applying the semi-structured interview to 10 women aged between 30 and 50 years, who have husbands with a work schedule greater than 8 hours a day and 2 to 4 children. The main results show that, according to the participants, parents are present in their children's lives from the moment of conception (pregnancy news). Likewise, although fathers are present, mothers hope that the father figure will have a greater presence in the development of their children. On the other hand, mothers prefer a new model of parenting, where the father is more involved in caring for the children. It is concluded that the functions of fatherhood and motherhood continue to be directed according to traditional gender roles.
