Social housing in Barrios AltosResumen
A thesis on Social Housing was developed in Barrios Altos. Social housing is low-budget residence, economic in use and maintenance, for families with fewer resources. In this work, it was researched the possibility of proposing a housing module that combines housing and workshop in the same place. The motivations for researching and proposing such project in the capital were presented, the most important being to solve the existing housing deficit and improve quality of life conditions in this area. National and international Housing projects were presented, with which it is possible to conclude with formal, functional and technological guidelines necessary to be able to develop an architectural project. Moreover, an analysis was carried out on the flexible character in different important architectural projects, as well as theory regarding this subject, since the project will emphasize in flexibility to include both housing and work in one module, also, to be able to adapt to different types of families and their undoubtedly variable character (needs and number of members), and satisfy current needs of adaptability of use. In addition, conditions of Barrios Altos were studied, as well as existing housing typologies in the area, where “quintas”, “callejones” and Patio houses, now inhabited by multiple families. In all of these, the sense of community and belonging is emphasized, such qualities are important to preserve when proposing the architectural project.
