Organizational culture as a key factor in the development of the Hospitality industryAbstract
El propósito de esta investigación es presentar los argumentos académicos que sustentan la importancia de la cultura organizacional como factor clave en el sector hotelero, partiendo de la revisión de investigaciones previas y vigentes a la fecha. Existe un número significativo de artículos o publicaciones relacionados a la cultura organizacional en el sector hotelero que considera que este factor influye directamente en el buen desempeño de dichas empresas. La mayoría de las investigaciones estudia la asociación entre variables a través de análisis dicotómicos que vinculan a la cultura organizacional con otra variable, estableciendo su efecto en el desarrollo de la gestión empresarial de los hoteles y la implementación de diversas herramientas como por ejemplo las utilizadas para medir la satisfacción de los clientes. A partir de ello, se analizarán los componentes, factores y dimensiones, la evaluación de la cultura organizacional y su efecto en la gestión de hoteles a nivel mundial. Se trata de una investigación bibliográfica con un análisis descriptivo y evaluativo mediante la revisión de fuentes documentales académicas y la entrevista a una experta. Se encuentra que el estudio de la cultura organizacional ha adquirido mayor importancia en el sector hotelero en el tiempo debido al entorno dinámico actual y por tanto, se han desarrollado herramientas para evaluarla y darle el seguimiento oportuno con el fin de lograr una ventaja competitiva sostenible. Se concluye que, a través de todas las fuentes revisadas, la preocupación de las empresas por formar una cultura organizacional sólida es mayor al comprobar la influencia de esta en las herramientas de gestión dentro de la gestión estratégica.The purpose of this research is to present the academic arguments that support the importance of organizational culture as a key factor in the hotel sector, based on the review of previous and current research. There is a significant number of articles or publications related to the organizational culture in the hotel sector that believes that this factor directly influences the good performance of these companies. Most of the research studies the association between variables through dichotomous analyzes that link the organizational culture with another variable, establishing its effect on the development of hotel business management and the implementation of various tools such as those used to measure customer satisfaction. From this, the components, factors, dimensions, the evaluation of the organizational culture and its effect on the management of hotels worldwide will be analyzed. This is a bibliographic investigation with a descriptive and evaluative analysis by reviewing academic documentary sources and interviewing an expert. It is found that the study of organizational culture has become more important in the hotel sector over time due to the current dynamic environment and therefore, tools have been developed to evaluate it and give it timely follow-up in order to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. It is concluded that, through all the sources reviewed, the concern of the companies to form a solid organizational culture is greater when verifying the influence of this in the management tools within the strategic management.
