The present study demonstrates the direct relationship between the assortment width strategy and the purchase decision in the “Fast Food” chains, taking as a sample the consumers of the Bembos, KFC and Domino’s Pizza chains. For this, in-depth interviews were conducted with young people between 20 and 25 years old in Metropolitan Lima Zone 6 with the purpose of knowing their attitudes and perceptions regarding the purchase in the aforementioned stores. Similarly, a quantitative study was carried out in order to ratify the results of the qualitative study and thus demonstrate the relationship between the study variables. It has also been possible to determine that the main factors that influence the purchase of a certain product are promotions and the companion at the time of the purchase, that is, if the person is alone or accompanied during the moment of purchase in the establishments of Fast Food. Among the main results obtained in both studies, it was first demonstrated that the width assortment opens up opportunities for new purchases to satisfy different cravings or preferences by an increasingly varied and demanding target audience; second, that the purchase decision varies depending on the number of people who attend a Fast Food and third, that having a greater variety of products facilitates consumer’s choice, because it allows them to identify more specifically what is what they want to eat. It is important to mention that experts have identified new requirements and demands on consumers, which must be satisfied so that they can meet their expectations and the company can continue to grow and obtain higher revenues.en_US
