Demonstration of the salary penalty for maternity in formal and informal jobs in Peru 2014-2018Abstract
En el presente documento se estimó la brecha salarial entre madres y mujeres que no tienen hijos en empleos informales y formales. Para ello, se aplicó la estimación de Oaxaca Blinder y la corrección de sesgo de selección de Heckman, la base de datos utilizada fue un pooled de datos elaborado con la Encuesta Nacional de Hogares del INEI anuales en el período 2014-2018. Se determinó que la brecha por maternidad en empleos informales es de 14% y en empleos formales la brecha asciende a 33%, además, dichas penalidades son explicadas por variables observables de las mujeres.This document estimated the wage gap between mothers and chidless women in informal and formal jobs. For this purpose, the Oaxaca Blinder estimate and Heckman's selection bias correction were applied. The database used was a pooled data set developed with the INEI's annual National Household Survey for the period 2014-2018. It was determined that the motherhood gap in informal jobs is 14% and in formal jobs the gap amounts to 33%.
