Introduction: The motor development of a human being not only covers biological aspects, but also psychosocial aspects, which are modified and graded according to the surrounding environment. Balance is a component of integration between perception, sensation and movement. In this sense, there are several factors that can influence the development of both static and dynamic equilibrium. Due to these factors, psychomotor intervention programs have been implemented, allowing the child to develop systems at a psychomotor and intellectual level, because the motor skills and abilities are linked to the child's cognitive development. Objectives: To determine if there are urban-rural differences in the static-dynamic equilibrium in preschools of rural schools in Junín and urban area of Lima Materials and method: Study of observational, transversal, comparative and analytical type of primary base. The population was constituted by students of both sexes from 3 to 5 years of age from the districts of Surquillo Lima and Apata Junín. Functional range test was performed to assess static balance and Timed and Go (TUG) for dynamic balance Result: 201 children from 3 to 5 years old were assessed. At the level of dynamic equilibrium (TUG) the urban group performed in 0.02 seconds less than the rural group the TUG test (p = 0.680), no significant differences were found when compared according to variables sex, age, size, BMI and length of the foot. Regarding the static balance, the urban group had a total range of 7.89 cm greater than the rural group (p <0.001), significant differences were found when compared according to variables sex, age, height, BMI and foot length (p <0.05). Conclusions: Significant differences were found in favor of the urban population in static equilibrium and the populations studied, even when compared between the same sex, age categories, height, body mass index and foot length (p <0.001). On the other hand, we did not find statistically significant results between the dynamic equilibrium when comparing rural and urban population, although there is limited power to conclude that there are no significant differences.en_US
