• La construcción mediática del celebrity chef peruano: La imagen pública de Gastón Acurio

      The objective was to analyze what communicational factors, attribute or personality factors and cultural factors are involved in the construction of the celebrity chef Gaston Acurio according the perspective of university students from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management at a private university in Peru. A descriptive, exploratory and quantitative study was followed. Participants were 81 students from Gastronomy and Culinary Management and Tourism Administration careers. The term celebrity is associated as a famous entertainment or entertainment industry. Therefore, the investigation found three perspectives: Acurio as celebrity, as a celebrity chef (the most famous chef of Peru) and as image in advertising brands. It was concluded that media factors, attribute or personality factors, and cultural factors are involved in the process of a celebrity image. Charisma, leadership and competition (attribute or personality factors) are the most important. The implications of these findings were discussed.
