Background: The aim of the study was to determine the association between Association of Pell and Gregory classification with the Ezoddini classification in panoramic radiographs of patients attended in the UPC clinic during 2012 – 2014. Material and Methods: A descriptive, transversal and retrospective observational study was conducted. 499 panoramic radiographs of patients attended in the UPC clinic during 2012 and 2014 were evaluated. As inclusion criteria was considered patients older than 20 years with the two lower third molars. Panoramic radiographs with distortion and radiographs with the third molars in Nolla stage 0-9 were excluded. To determine the relation of the roots of the third molars used the Ezoddini classification and to determinate the position of the third molars Pell & Gregory was used. Results: The results were that the relationship was more frequent in the root canal with 42.5 % (212) to the relation of third molars with the inferior alveolar nerve, followed by the absence of contact 32.9 % (164). The age group was the 20 to 30 years and in greater proportion in the ratio of the root canal with 34.1 % (170). For the association of Pell and Gregory classification of with the Ezoddini classification, class IA is associated with a greater proportion of the absence of contact in 19.2 % (96). Conclusions: If there is an association between the position of the third molar as rated by Pell and Gregory relationship with the roots of the lower third molars with the mandibular canal as rated by Ezoddini .

Objective: To assess the clinical and radiographic features of the pulpotomy formocresol after 12 months. Materials and methods: a descriptive, transversal study that evaluated the clinical and radiographic features of 97 teeth with treatment of pulpotomy who attended the postoperative control after a year of performed treatment. The presence of history of pain, mobility, fistula and sensitivity in the tooth with treatment was observed for clinical evaluation. In radiographic evaluation was performed take a periapical radiograph to determine the presence of pathological findings such as loss of hard blade, IRL compatible with furcation and pathological resorption of internal and external lesion. Results: The prevalence according to clinical characteristics were 1 case of (1.03%) presence of pain history, 6 (6.18%) sensitivity, 3 (3.09%) mobility and 2 (2.06%) fistula; radiographic evaluation found 1 (1.04%) case of hard blade loss, 19 (19.58%) compatible with furcation lesion IRL, 3 (3.09) internal root resorption and 1 (1.04%) external root resorption. Conclusion: The results indicate a low percentage of pathological traits observed clinically and radiographically after one year of treatment.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of oral habits and dentoalveolar alterations among 6- to-12-year-old children treated at the Teaching Private Hospital. Material and methods: It is a descriptive, observational, cross- sectional and retrospective study with a sample size of 1,006 medical records of 6- to-12-year-old children treated at UPC teaching Clinic were reviewed of medical records of children 6 to 12 years, children and male and female medical records that were authorized by specialists of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics area was included. Medical records of children without DNI and children with special needs were excluded. Results: It was found a predisposition towards an atypical swallowing habit (19,48%); digit sucking (2,19%); and mouth breathing (0,20%). The prevalence of dentoalveolar alterations was: anterior crossbite (8.65%), and posterior crossbite (5,27%); anterior open bite (9,74%) and posterior open bite (0.89%); Angle´s Class I (57,95%), Class II (18.98%) and class III (10,64%) right molar relationship; Angle´s Class I (55.86%), Class II (18.39%) and Class III (14.61%) left molar relationship; right mesial step (6.66%), flush step (0.89%) and distal step (0.40%); left mesial step (6.16%), flush step (0.99%) and distal step (0.70%); overjet of 1mm to 4mm (70.78%), greater than 4mm (11.93%) and less than 4mm (6.26%); overbite of 10% to 40% (45.03%), greater than 40% (16.60%) and less than 10% (11.43%). No association was found between age and gender and the oral habits. An association was found between age and left and right molar relationship in terms of Angle´s classes, overjet and overbite (p=0.001); whereas no statistically significant association was found with gender and dentoalveolar alterations. Conclusions: The study concluded that the most prevalent oral habit was atypical swallowing and dentoalveolar alteration of anterior open bite.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical performance Class I composites performed by undergraduate students at the Teaching Clinic UPC after 6 months. Material and Methods: A total of 47 class I restorations were clinically evaluated 6 months after placement, using USPHS criteria, describing color match, marginal adaptation, roughness, marginal staining, anatomy and secondary caries. Alpha, Bravo and Charlie where the coding, being excellent restorations, acceptable and unacceptable condition respectively. Results: At the 6-month follow-up, all restorations received the same initial scores with respect to each evaluation criterion. Color match, marginal adaptation, roughness, marginal staining and secondary caries scored Alfa at 100% (n = 47), and anatomical shape scored Alfa at 87.23 % (n = 41) and Bravo at 12.77 % (n = 6). Conclusion: All composites were clinically functional after 6 month and received the same initial scores with respect to each evaluation criterion.

Objectives: To evaluate the need of adults from a Peruvian town to undergo normative and self-perceived orthodontic treatment. Material and methods: The sample included 200 patients from a Health Center aged from 18 to 40 years old. The Dental Health Component (DHC) of the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) was used to assess the normative need. The Aesthetic Component (AC) of IOTN and Oral Aesthetic Subjective Impact Scale (OASIS) was used for the self-perceived need. The chi-squared test and the Fisher’s exact test were used to determine statistical diferences. The relation between the instruments to measure the normative and self-perceived need and the Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient were assessed. Results: 18.5% of patients had a “Definitive” normative need. 1.5% and 3% of the patients had a “Definitive” self-perceived need according to the AC and OASIS, respectively. No statistically important relation was found in the genre association (p > 0.05) with any instrument. A low correlation was found in the three indexes with a value of 0.304 (AC/DHC), 0.326 (AC/OASIS) and 0.338 (OASIS/DHC). Conclusions: Findings suggest that people’s self-perception is clearly opposed to the opinion of the specialist trained for this assessment.
