Objective: To compare in vitro the chromatic stability of Filtek ™ Z350 XT and Opallis® composite resins subjected to different staining substances: coffee, tea, wine and chicha morada. Material and Methods: This is an experimental in vitro study in which a total of 150 samples of Filtek ™ Z350 XT and Opallis® composite resins was used, both with enamel color A2 divided into 10 groups (5 groups for each resin trademark). There were 15 samples in each group. Each sample had 8 mm diameter and 2 mm height. These samples were immersed in each staining substance for 7 days. Distilled water was used as control group. The color reading was made with the Vita Easyshade Compact® spectrophotometer. The data obtained belong to the scale of Vita 3D Master® color guide, with three dimensions of color (brightness, chroma and hue). Results: The Filtek™ Z350 XT resin in the control group obtained a value of 2M2; the chromatic stability did not vary, keeping its original color A2. The staining substance which caused greater chromatic alteration was wine with a value of 5M3 followed by coffee with a value of 4R2, then chicha morada with 4M2.5 and finally tea with 3.5M3. The Opallis® resin in the control group obtained also a value of 2M2. The most staining substance in this group was wine with a value of 5M3 followed by coffee with a value of 4R2 for the 50% of the samples and 4R2.5 for the remaining percentage. The coffee samples were followed by chicha morada with a value of 4M2.5 and finally tea with a value of 3.5M3. Conclusions: It was determined that there was no variation in the chromatic stability between Filtek ™ Z350 XT and Opallis® composite resins and that the staining substance with the greatest degree of coloration was wine, followed by coffee, chicha morada and finally tea.
