El objetivo general de este estudio es identificar la correlación entre obesidad abdominal o el índice cintura cadera como predictor de las alteraciones en el metabolismo de trabajadores de una empresa en Lima, Perú, durante el periodo enero- febrero del año 2014. El estudio incluyó a 298 de los cuales 213 eran hombres y 85 mujeres. La edad promedio de la población es 52 ± 9.7 años. Los problemas de sobrepeso y obesidad aumentan con la edad, alcanzando el porcentaje más alto en el grupo de edad de 45 a 59 años (42.9%). En el grupo de edad de 60 a más, se encuentra un porcentaje de 22% con los problemas de sobrepeso y obesidad. Según la correlación de Spearman se encontró una asociación directa de manera muy estrecha entre el perímetro abdominal y triglicéridos (p= 0.276; CP=0.063). La implementación de estrategias preventivas eficaces, basadas en estos hallazgos, puede prevenir enfermedades coronarias en esta población.Type

According to the World Health Organization, the prevalence of obesity worldwide has nearly doubled between 1980 and 2008. The overall objective of this study was to identify the correlation between abdominal obesity or waist-hip ratio as a predictor of changes in the metabolism of employees of a company in Lima, Peru, during the period January-February 2014. The study included 298 of which 213 were men and 85 women. The average age of the population was 52 ± 9.7 years. The problems of overweight and obesity increase with age, reaching the highest rate in the age group 45-59 years (42.9%). In the age group over 60, is a percentage of 22% with overweight and obesity. According to the Spearman correlation is a direct association between very closely waist circumference and triglycerides (CP = 0.063; p = 0.276) was found.
