      The aim of this paper is to present the development of an optimization proposal in the use of operational resources on a butter plant in a dairy company presenting a significant growth in recent years. From the analysis of the value stream map of the entire process, the most significant improvement opportunities are identified. Applying lean manufacturing tools, we developed a proposal to substantially improve operating through cost reduction, increased productivity and reduction of eight types of waste: waiting times, inventories, transportation, movements, rework, overproduction, over processing and unused human resources.

    • Consideraciones básicas del riesgo de interés estructural

      Structural interest risk rate is the potential change that occurs in a financial institution’s financial margin and/or the economic value (market value) due to a variation in the types of interest. The exposure to adverse movement in the types of interest is an inherent risk in banking activity that, at the same time, becomes an opportunity that can be used to create economic value. As such, interest rate risk should be measured and managed such that it isn’t too high in relation to the financial institution’s assets and that it is reasonable in relation to the economic performance that management and stockholders estimate. This article considers a series of metrics that calculate structural interest rate risk indicators: accounting GAP, margin at risk, earnings at risk, financial margin sensitivity, duration GAP, asset value at risk and economic value sensitivity.

    • De los Objetivos Trazados con el Otorgamiento de Beneficios Laborales en la Acuicultura

      The work benefits given to the aquaculture sector through Law N° 27460, Law to Promote and Develop Aquaculture, dated 25 may 2001, consists of a marked limitation of some benefits that, in ideal employment circumstances, the employee would have under general regulations. In this way, these regulations have consequences are clearly borne by the employees. These limited benefits have an objective that is clearly stated in the law: promotion of the activity as a source of food, employment and income; objectives that have been clearly fulfilled given the externalities that employees bear. As such, we believe that all measures that limit work benefits should be subject to limits in their use and/or applied for a fixed period of time, measures that are not currently part of this law.

    • La Gestión de Abastecimiento de Medicamentos en el Sector Públic Peruano: Nuevos Modelos de Gestión

      The public sector drug supply management system plays an important role in providing quality health services, which is why it requires effective and efficient management. The article analyzes the current public sector drug supply in Peru, the key problems it faces and its opportunities. Pursuant to public management modernization policies and reforms to the health sector, it proposes implementation of a continuous demand model of inventory management, new purchasing strategies and the integration of storage management and drug distribution among the public entities that provide health services.

    • Implementación de BIM en Proyectos Inmobiliarios

      Debido al importante crecimiento de la demanda de viviendas, las empresas inmobiliarias y constructoras se han visto en la necesidad de acelerar sus procesos de diseño, presentándose deficiencias como falta de detalles, incompatibilidades y cruces entre especialidades e inconsistencias que generan problemas que repercuten en el proceso de construcción. BIM se presenta como una propuesta importante en la gestión de diseño y construcción a través de la representación digital de un producto (modelo) que es desarrollado colaborativamente, es decir es un enfoque totalmente nuevo para la práctica y la promoción de las profesiones que requiere la implementación de nuevas políticas, contratos y relaciones entre los involucrados del proyecto (Kymmell, 2008). Implementar BIM y obtener sus beneficios implica un cambio en el enfoque de la gestión de los proyectos, Succar (2009) propone un marco que permite que los involucrados que forman parte de la industria de arquitectura, ingeniería, construcción y operaciones (AECO, por sus siglas en inglés) entiendan los campos de acción de BIM, sus etapas de implementación y los objetivos que se deben alcanzar con su implementación. Con el objeto de demostrar que BIM es aplicable y beneficioso, se presenta las métricas de mejoras de la implementación de una empresa inmobiliaria y constructora en la que se tuvo en cuenta a los involucrados desde etapas tempranas en torno al modelo BIM desarrollado colaborativamente por la misma organización.

    • Propuesta de aplicación de conceptos de manufactura esbelta a una línea de producción de Costura de una empresa de confecciones de tejido de punto para exportación

      This article presents a proposal for applying lean manufacturing concepts to a sewing production line from a typical apparel company that produces knit garments for export, in order to reduce lead time, in-process inventory and processing delays. Using value stream map and seven wastes approach, the paper presents and analyzes the current configuration of a typical sewing line, identifying the most important wastes throughout the process. It proposes a lean production system consisting of five elements, aimed at reducing the main factors of waste caused by the conventional production system: a) reducing the size of the line, b) implementation of a unit production system), c) implementation of a line-controlled load system (pull system), d) implementation of group incentives, and e) increasing delivery frequency of outgoing garments to finishing department. As a result, the proposed model is able to reduce lead time, cycle time, in-process inventory and unnecessary movements.

      The way organizations execute their strategies can be the difference between success and failure in achieving their objectives such that the strategies must be translated into relevant, feasible and measurable projects. Many organizations already work in a project management environment and have project management professionals but organizations need to do more with their already limited resources, focusing on projects that generate value, executing projects more efficiently and better controlled. This article develops a proposal for the design and deployment of a project management office (PMO) as a way to improve project management in technology services.
