Drone contribution to the storytelling compared to the traditional camera in the documentary film: PacificumAbstract
The drone, previously conceived as a military tool, nowadays, is a great utility source for the audiovisual media. The nature of the drone of being in the air and being able to watch anything widely, have been a reason to conceive it as an omniscient and omnipresent tool; also, part of the humankind will since the ancient history including the capability to fly. For that reason, it is discussed whether the drone owns the capability to extend the senses of humans for reaching the “view of God”, if it is capable to apply its concept into the audiovisual media, and if it is possible to create a new storytelling. The study objectives are to analyze how the drone contributes to the storytelling compared to the traditional camera, and if it can build an omniscient character. Through the qualitative method, and interpretative paradigm, a content analysis has been made. The study concluded that the drone allows the storyteller to create an omniscient character; nonetheless, the documentary does not innovate into the storytelling and does not create a new one due to relate both positive and negative event in a romantic may.
